Membership Benefits
The
Post-Tensioning Institute of Australia (PTIA) was formed to represent
the post-tensioning contracting industry in Australia, seeking to
maintain a viable and competent industry with high standards in design
and construction of post-tensioning systems for the benefits of its
members, their employees, and their clients.
Benefits
For
clients
such as building owners and building contractors, specifying PTIA
members for contracts provides confidence that the post-tensioning
contractor and their materials and equipment suppliers comply with
relevant Australian standards, meet the PTIA’s strict membership
criteria as verified by a third party certifier
(David Hicks & Co),
and avoids the time and cost of conducting a separate verification
process.
PTIA
corporate members (post-tensioning contractors) are required to meet
specific QA specifications, maintain specific minimum insurance levels,
maintain QA, OH&S and Environmental management plans, and maintain
trained and qualified staff. For more details, refer to the PTIA’s web
site.
For
post-tensioning contractors,
corporate membership of the PTIA enables them to demonstrate a high
level of competency as verified by an independent certifier. It is the
aim of the PTIA that client organisations will specify or give
preference to PTIA Corporate members for post-tensioning contracts.
For
materials and equipment suppliers, consulting firms and software
providers,
associate membership also demonstrates specific levels of competence, as
well as being preferred suppliers by post-tensioning contractor
members. Consulting engineering firms who are members of PTIA also
receive substantial fees subsidies for PT Workshops conducted by Cement
& Concrete Services.
For
all members,
membership of the PTIA offers many benefits including –
|
· recognition
of high standards in the post-tensioning industry
|
· opportunity
for communication and interaction with peers |
|
· representation
by PTIA on Standards committees
|
· access
to new technical information from PTIA website and seminars |
|
· access
to training schemes
|
· links to your company website |
|
· quarterly
newsletter, including opportunity to provide articles of
interest about the member’s products and services (nominal ½ A4
page) |
· participation on PTIA technical committees |
Rights and responsibilities
Members have the right to nominate directors of the PTIA and to vote at
annual general meetings. Members will receive advice of new
developments in the industry and of relevant seminars. Members will
have access to a ‘member only’ area of the PTIA web site.
All
members are required to agree to the members’ liability (maximum of
$20.00) in the event of winding up of the Institute. All members agree
to be bound by the constitution of the PTIA.
All
members must notify the PTIA of a change in their address within 7 days
of such change.
Corporate and Associate members must maintain their certification of
membership criteria and must abide by the PTIA’s code of ethics.
