The accreditation process

Membership Criteria

PT Contractor with in-house design capabilities

1. Technical

The member must have their Approved Proprietary Post-tensioning Systems prequalified by the Roads and Traffic Authority in New South Wales (RTA) in accordance with QA Specification B119 “Approval of Post-tensioning Systems” (http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/doingbusinesswithus/specifications/bridgeworks.html), or a series of tests “Third Party Certified” to Australian Standard AS/NZS 1314-2003 or to relevant international standards and approved by the Board of the Institute.

  • The systems requiring prequalification are-:
    Slab system up to 5 x 12.7mm strands and 5 x 15.2mm strands
    Multi-strand system up to 12 x 12.7mm strands or 7 x 15.2mm strands
  • The member must provide details of the PT system used, including its components.

2. Insurance Cover

The member must maintain the following minimum level of insurance cover -: • Professional Indemnity – $5 million

  • Public Liability – $20 million
  • Product Liability – $20 million
  • Contractors All Risk – $7.5 million • Workers Compensation

3. Financial

The member must provide evidence that GST, PAYG withholding, Payroll Tax and other statutory requirements such as Superannuation and Redundancy payments are all undertaken properly and in a timely manner, as certified by a Certified Practicing Accountant or a Chartered Accountant.

4. Industry Funds

The member must provide evidence that it complies with the terms of the Registered Industrial Agreement under which its site based workforce is remunerated. Acceptable evidence will be a Code Compliance letter issued by Fair Work Australia.

5. Management Plans

The member must maintain the following “Third Party Certified” Management Plans in place-:

  • Quality Assurance Manual (AS-NZS ISO 9001 or demonstrated equivalent for PT products) • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Manual including rehabilitation policy.

The member must provide evidence that it maintains an Environmental Management Manual

6. Resources

The member must maintain the following experienced full-time professional staff as a minimum-:

  • Two NPER Registered Engineers with minimum 5 years’ experience in Post-tensioned design, and • Two CW5 Leading Hands (Foreman or equivalent), or
  • Two CW6 Leading Hands (Foreman or equivalent)

The member must commit to train all site employees in accordance with PTIA certified training schemes. The PTIA’s auditor will assess compliance with the above on application for membership annually.

 

PT Contractor only undertaking Ground Anchor works

1. Technical

The member must have their Approved Proprietary Post-tensioning System “Third Party Certified” by a series of tests to Australian Standard AS/NZS 1314-2003, or to relevant international standards and approved by the Board of the Institute.

The systems requiring prequalification are-:

  • Multi-strand system up to 12 x 12.7mm strands or 7 x 15.2mm strands

The member must provide details of the PT system used, including its components.

2. Insurance Cover

The member must maintain the following minimum level of insurance cover -:

  • Public Liability – $20 million
  • Product Liability – $20 million
  • Contractors All Risk – $7.5 million • Workers Compensation

3. Financial

  • Two CW6 Leading Hands (Foreman or equivalent)

The member must commit to train all site employees in accordance with PTIA certified training schemes. The PTIA’s auditor will assess compliance with the above on application for membership annually.

 

PT Material and Equipment Supplier

1. Management Plans

The member must demonstrate that it maintains a “Third Party Certified” Quality Assurance Plan (AS-NZS ISO 9001 or demonstrated equivalent) relevant to its PT products.

2. Insurance Cover

The member must demonstrate that it maintains the following minimum level of insurance cover -:

  • Public Liability – $20 million
  • Product Liability – $20 million

3. Experience

The member must provide references from at least two Corporate member organisations that they have relevant experience in their field. Alternatively provide other references acceptable to the PTIA Board.

Evidence supporting the above should be submitted with the application for membership. PTIA will assess compliance with the above on application for membership and annually.

 

Associate Membership Criteria – Other Material and Equipment Supplier

1. Management Plans

The member must demonstrate that it maintains a “Third Party Certified” Quality Assurance manual relevant to the products it supplies to PT works or which are for use in PT works.

Evidence supporting the above should be submitted with the application for membership. The PTIA Board may request renewal of such evidence annually at the time of membership renewal.

 

Associate Membership Criteria – Consulting Engineering Firms

1. Management Plans

The member must demonstrate that it maintains a “Third Party Certified” Quality Assurance Plan which is relevant to PT engineering design.

2. Insurance Cover

The member must demonstrate that it maintains Professional Indemnity insurance with cover of at least $5 million.

3. Resources

The member must provide evidence that it maintains at least one (1) NPER Registered Engineer with minimum 5 years’ experience in Post-tensioned design.

4. Experience

The member must provide references from at least two Corporate member organisations that they have relevant experience in their field. Alternatively provide other references acceptable to the PTIA Board.

Evidence supporting the above should be submitted with the application for membership. The PTIA Board may request renewal of such evidence annually at the time of membership renewal.

 

Associate Membership Criteria – Other Organisations

There are no specific membership criteria for these members.
